Last January I was on vacations so I took a little time to hear some of my songs. After I muted the drum and the bass channels in the DAW (when I was listening to the dance version of Espiritual Bistro), it was clear to me that this song deserved a different approach.
I started to work on it and at the end this version with a lot of cuban- caribbean influence came out.
Once again I’m using Cottonbro´s visuals in this promotional video. I let the edition in a minimal of cuts on purpose. Seems to me that it helps the story more than having a lot of cuts. I’m still amazed on how videos that were shot for a different purpose, can seem to tell a different story depending on who and how the editing is done.
This time I looked for someone that could help me with the mixing and the mastering. Those are completely different universes that are essential any song and I had to admit that my efforts (in the previous version of Espiritual Bistro) where good from the point of view of my learning process, but were still too far away from what I’m looking for.
I found Sam Beckley and decided to work with him. I liked the background he has and for the works that he has done and his expertise, I thought it was worth trying. I think now, I was right! I highly recommend Sam because he was very professional and showed a lot of respect for the song and the artist behind it.
